Learn To Thank God As Part Of Prayer

Thanking God for everything every night and morning is the most important thing children can do. Daily recognition fortifies their relationship with Him. It is our divine obligation to teach our children to surrender their lives to God and recognize his grace in our lives. This practice not only fortifies our relationship but reminds us … Continue reading Learn To Thank God As Part Of Prayer

Leviticus 19:4, Idol Worship

Idols are anything you put before God. Do not raise up a temple of false stuff. There is only one God. “Do not turn to idols or make metal gods for yourselves. I am the Lord your God.” Leviticus 19:4 Idols, according to Vine’s Complete Expository Dictionary are ideas or fancies, images that represent a … Continue reading Leviticus 19:4, Idol Worship

Why We Should Anoint Ourselves, Family, Homes, and Workplace

Daily Inspiration - Lisa's Thoughts

There are many doctrines that interpret the Bible to authenticate their belief structures. Therefore, there are different beliefs about spiritual welfare and anointing yourself, your family and your home. I believe God gave us the authority to tread upon serpents and scorpions. Luke wrote in 10:19,

Behold, I give you the authority to trample on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy, and nothing shall by any means hurt you.”

We have the authority to overcome our enemies.

Paul wrote in Ephesians 6:12,

“For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this age, against spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places.”

Paul clearly stated that there are rulers of darkness that fight to keep us in darkness, harms way, and confusion.

David wrote in Psalm 34:7,

“The angel of the Lord encamps all around those who fear Him…

The Prayer that Shocked the World

“If you don’t stand for something, you will fall for everything.”

When Minister Joe Wright was asked to open the new session of the Kansas Senate, everyone was expecting the usual generalities, but this is what they heard:

“Heavenly Father, we come before you today to ask your forgiveness and to seek your direction and guidance.

We know Your Word says, “Woe to those who call evil good”, but that is exactly what we have done. We have lost our spiritual equilibrium and reversed our values.

We have exploited the poor and called it the lottery.

We have rewarded laziness and called it welfare.

We have killed our unborn and called it choice.

We have shot anti-abortionists and called it justifiable.

We have neglected to discipline our children and called it building self esteem.

We have abused power and called it politics.

We have coveted our neighbor’s possessions and called it ambition.

We have polluted the air with…

Put the Fire Out

BeautyBeyondBones

I have a confession: one that I’m really not proud of.

But tonight at church, and really for the last couple weeks, I honestly have just felt…nothing.

It’s like I’ve been spiritually numb.

But tonight was different. I was actually getting angry.

I was sitting in the pew, and just inexplicably fuming, being critical of every little thing: the priest seemed arrogant. The pace was too slow. I was literally shooting daggers with my eyes at the elderly woman leading the songs. (A capella, I might add.) Who is this monster I’ve allowed in my thoughts and heart?!

But I was just checked out. And the more I thought about it, the worse it got.

I’m going to be honest: growing up, I had a few episodes of… the silent treatment.

I’m not proud to admit that passive aggressive low blow, but I have been known to give my…

Freedom

Fractured Faith Blog

I write a fair bit on the blog about freedom.

  • Freedom from self-loathing.
  • Freedom from addictive behaviour.
  • Freedom from secrets and lies.
  • Freedom from unhealthy relations.
  • Freedom from doubt and fear.

It can be pretty heavy reading at times so I believe it is important to add a sprinkle of humour to the posts. My sense of humour I would call quirky (others have preferred terminology such as ‘juvenile’ or ‘deeply embarrassing.’) Each to their own I suppose.

But I’m not afraid to laugh at myself because, if we didn’t laugh, then the world truly would be a much bleaker place than it currently is. My wife, Fionnuala, also has a sense of humour. Well she did marry me after all. I have caused her heartbreak many times but she has bafflingly always stood by me.

She does get her own back occasionally, however. And this morning was one of…
