Love’s Wastefulness

To what purpose is this waste? — Mat_26:8 A Strange Deed Lives Forever The scene was Bethany, and the time was near the end. A few more days and the earthly life of Jesus would be over. Jesus and His disciples are seated at their evening meal, when a woman, whom from other sources we … Continue reading Love’s Wastefulness

I Love This Story! Please Read It

Faithrises

There was once a man who didn’t believe in God, and he didn’t hesitate to let others know how he felt about religious holidays like Christmas. His wife however, did believe, and she raised their children to also have faith in God and, His Son, Jesus, The Christ, despite his disparaging comments…

One snowy Christmas Eve, his wife was taking their children to a Christmas Eve service in the farm community in which they lived. She asked him to come, but he refused.  “That story is nonsense!” he said. “Why would God lower Himself to come to Earth as a man? That’s ridiculous!” So she and the children left, and he stayed home.

A while later, the winds grew stronger and the snow turned into a blizzard. As the man looked out the window, all he saw was a blinding snowstorm.  He sat down to relax before the fire…

God want to use you

motivated mind

“Then spake the Lord to Paul in the night by a vision, Be not afraid, but speak, and hold not thy peace: Acts 18:9”

Apostle Paul,in his ministry on Earth, came to a crossroads, where he had to decide whether or not to stop preaching the gospel because of fear. Jesus Christ appeared to him in a vision and allayed his fears; He asked Paul to speak boldly and not stop for any reason. Dear beloved, it is possible that you have also come to a crossroads where you want to stop doing what God has assigned to you. Take encouragement from the opening scripture, and do your assigned task boldly. Don’t stop for any reason and lose your reward. You might be thinking that there is no use for you because of your condition or your circumstances. I have good news for you: There is no useless person in…

July 13 – Creation Reveals

THE RIVER WALK

For ever since the world was created, people have seen the earth and sky. Through everything God made, they can clearly see his invisible qualities—his eternal power and divine nature. So they have no excuse for not knowing God. (Romans 1:20)

Relate: This picture is from the top of an old fire lookout on top of Mount Utsayantha. This is an historic lookout post from which a watch could be made over multiple small nearby towns. The fire tower stands at the top of the highest hill in the region from which you can see for miles and miles in every direction. I cannot begin to tell you how beautiful it is to look out from this tower in early autumn. There is no possible way a person can stand in that tower at the top of that mountain and be amazed by the breathtaking beauty of God’s creation.

Through high-school…

Tufted Coquette

Jet Eliot

Tufted Coquette, male, Asa Wright Nature Centre Tufted Coquette, male, Asa Wright Nature Centre

One of the smallest hummingbirds, when this little orange bullet zooms by, you’re not sure if it’s an insect or a bird.

Tufted coquette, male Tufted coquette, male. See the pollen on the tip of his bill?

Plumes and polka dots, metallic green, a spikey rufous crest, and a red bill–this bird has jazz.

Lophornis ornatus–even the Latin name implies decoration. More bird info here.

We saw them on the Caribbean island of Trinidad, but they are also seen in the humid rainforests, gardens, and plantations of Venezuela, Guiana, and northern Brazil. Measuring 2.6 inches (6.6 cm) long, the genders of this tiny species do not look alike.

Like many hummingbirds, bees, and butterflies, this bird trap-lines while feeding; meaning they repeatedly check the same nectar source, like a trapper checking their traps.

If it wasn’t for the vervain plant they predictably visit for nectar, they would have been impossible to observe or photograph…

Self Confidence: How To Gain It And How To Lose It

A Coffee with Friends

I can’t speak enough about self confidence as you don’t know what you have until you lose it. Why is self confidence so important? Because, understanding our own significance impacts whether we value others in this world.  Because when we know that we are loved and cared for, we can confidently give, lead, teach, and invest in others. My personal definition of self confidence is “Knowing what I do each day is significant and will impact others. I’m intelligent, important, valuable, and I can change my world.”

I’ve come to realize that children today don’t seem to develop confidence in their own abilities and giftedness leading to obvious issues as they try to succeed in the world today.  How do you get confidence?  How do you bestow confidence into your children?  How do you help those around you who have lost or never had confidence?  I began to wonder about these…
