It was by faith that Rahab the prostitute was not destroyed with the people in her city who refused to obey GOD. For she had given a friendly welcome to the spies. – 📖 Hebrews 11:31 📖 NLT
Faith covers a multitude of sins. We would not really have expected the name of a prostitute in the hall of faith in Hebrews 11, yet Rahab’s name is not mentioned only here, she was one of the few women who had a place of her own in the family tree of JESUS (see Matt 1:5)! GOD took a woman from a heathen nation, someone with a questionable reputation and HE used her in HIS devine plan, just because she believed.
Rahab’s story is well~known. Since she believed in the GOD of Israel, she obeyed HIS commands. The spies owed their lives to her. She hid them on her roof and helped them to get away by letting them down the walls of Jericho, by a rope through the window. In turn, they kept their promise to her: When Jericho was destroyed, Rahab’s family was rewarded and her life and the lives of her family were spared. Furthermore, she eventually became part of GOD’S family.
Do you believe in the GOD of Israel? As in the case of Rahab, HE also has a place for you in HIS plan of salvation, even if there are many sins in your past. All you have to do is to confess these sins and believe that GOD can forgive each of them.
🙏🏻 Heavenly FATHER, thank YOU that YOU also love sinners. Please forgive my sin, and show me where YOU want to use me in YOUR divine plan … Amen.
