But when it goes well for you, please remember me and show me kindness by mentioning me to the Pharaoh, that he might bring me out of this prison. – ๐ Gen. 40:14 ๐
“Out of sight, out of mind” is such a true idiom.ย Because it is easy to forget about people when we don’t see them anymore. We then are busy again with our own worlds and small circle around us. You know how often we say to each other: “I will keep you in my thoughts.” Or: “I will pray for you.” And then … months later the promise is forgotten.
When Joseph interpreted the cup bearer and the baker’s dreams, Joseph asks the cup bearer: “But when all goes well with you, remember me and show me kindness; mention me to the Pharaoh and get me out of this prison”.ย But unfortunately, the man who became head cup bearer, as Joseph predicted, was a case of out~of sight~out~of~mind.
We read in Gen 40:23:ย Yet the chief butler did not remember Joseph, he forgot him.
Maybe the HOLY SPIRIT wants to make your heart sensitive today for someone whom you have forgotten about. Someone who needs your prayers, help, attention or good words so desperately.
Maybe HE is asking you again today to remember anew …
May you and I fulfill our promises to others faithfully.
Our LORD does that.
๐๐ป LORD, forgive me my forgetfulness and self-centeredness. Help me to fulfill my promises, please … Amen.
