For whoever keeps the whole law and yet stumbles at just one point is guilty of all of it.
πŸ“– James 2:10 NIV πŸ“–

We tend to distinguish between sins.
We find murder terrible, yet we easily describe our own white lies as “being tactful”.
In GOD’S Eyes there are no major and minor sins.Β Sin is sin; GOD hates all sin and the penalty for sin is death. If you and I keep the whole law, yet stumble in only respect, we are guilty in respect of all the commandments, reads the verse for today. This is very discouraging ~ who could ever meet GOD’S standards for holiness?

In the Sermon on the Mount, JESUS makes matters worse when HE explains the law:
By merely looking at a woman lustfully, a man has already committed adultary with her. Anyone who is angry with his brother is guilty of murder. All of us are therefore transgressors ~ all of us are guilty before GOD.

A lack of love is at the root of much of our disobedience: We do not love GOD enough, because we do not love ourselves; we begrudge our neighbors everything, because we want everything for ourselves.

We can never obey GOD’S law in our own strength because we are inherently sinful.
GOD loves us so much that HE made a plan to change the verdict of “guilty” to “not guilty”.

HE sent HIS SON to pay the penalty for our sin, by HIS death on the cross.
JESUS was found guilty as charged ~ on our behalf ~ so that we could be set free.
All we now have to do is believe in HIM and ask GOD to forgive us our sins.

πŸ™πŸ» Heavenly FATHER, I am guilty before YOU today. Thank YOU for sending YOUR SON to die for me. Please forgive my sin, LORD and my lack of love, so that I can be innocent before YOU again, my SAVIOUR. Amen.
