The Art of Appreciation

I thank my God every time I remember you. In all my prayers for all of you, I always pray with joy.

The month of October has evolved into Pastors’ Appreciation Month here in South Africa, and around the world. In fact, it has fast become a tradition to celebrate the second Sunday of this month with special services or programmes honouring clergy and ministers at local churches.

Today, we had the joy of celebrating with my dad at his local home-church. A minister for many years, and now semi-retired he shares alongside another seasoned minister to tend to a loyal and local flock. I like to joke and say that my brothers and I kept my dad in business, but those are tales for another journal, a diary maybe, preferably with a closed lock and double pin-codes. Anyway, I detract.
